3.5 billion brand conversations per day?

That is a lot of talking. According to a PQ Media study, 80% of consumers trust -- or rely on -- the people driving these conversations (friends, family and other influential persons) over all other forms of advertising and marketing.

The study notes that, among the key trends driving growth, the Internet has strengthened consumers' ability to exchange ideas about brands and products through both traditional social networks and consumer-generated media like blogs.
