Random Snapshot: Shopping Predictions

24 percent of the influential online discussions around holiday shopping point to various forecasts on overall spending.

38 percent of holiday shopping conversations focus on where to find great deals and consumer shopping strategies. Big box retailers, like Wal-Mart and Home Depot, are hot topics given their discounts and deals during the holidays.

Conversations about consumer electronics are hot. High definition televisions, with nearly 5,000 unique posts, and iPhones, with 4,374 unique posts, are the most popular adult gift ideas within the top online conversations, and GPS systems running third with 3,497 posts.

Toys tied to the Internet and video games will be on top of many wish lists this year. The most influential online conversations revolve around video game Guitar Hero III and Barbie Girls. The Wii game system still reigns supreme among video consoles, and it scored more than 6,800 posts so far.
