Random Snapshot: Bloggers React to Writer's Strike

We wanted to know how the online influencers are reacting to the writers strike, so we did a deep dive into the entertainment/media slice of the blogosphere to find out what was what. Our full analysis is in this month's Media Watch column in PR Week, but here are the basics:

Two-thirds of bloggers side with the striking writers. As for those who feel the writers should end the debate? Many influencers say the quality of current TV programming is less than ideal, and does not warrant a prolonged strike.

Traditional media, both print and broadcast, have been all about the impact of the strike on the Oscars, yet only 17% of the most influential bloggers are talking about how the strike could impact the ceremony. Another topic the influencers are less than worried about? The impact of the strike on advertising revenues.

What are the opionion leaders buzzing about? The many alternatives to a night of watching scripted television shows - including reality shows, video rental services like Netflix and online video sites like YouTube.

Hmmmm. BuzzLogic will be tuning in to the influencers post-Oscars to see what they have to say...be sure to check the BuzzBlog for the update!
